On November 24, 2021, we received an inquiry from a Slovak customer who needed electronic shelf labels to be used in their food store, and gradually replaced paper labels with electronic shelf labels in other stores.
We have provided a detailed understanding of the overall store situation of the customer, such as the required electronic shelf labels (type, size, etc.), store area/decoration situation/SKU quantity/amount of content to be displayed, etc. In addition, we also inquired about the client's server situation, whether it is necessary to interface with other POS and other software (such as layout design, interfaces, etc.), as well as communication interface/gateway solutions, suspension/installation, integration interfaces, and other information. After a detailed understanding, we reached a decision to conduct sample testing first and then proceed with overall installation.
Just when we thought everything was going smoothly, the customer pointed out that the price of ESL products was too high. In fact, this is a common question that customers often ask because compared to traditional paper labels, the price of electronic shelf labels is indeed much higher. Just as negotiations reached a deadlock, the R&D department developed the latest 2.4GHz ESL product. Unlike the old 433mHz and the first generation 2.4GHz ESL products, the new generation 2.4GHz ESL product has many advantages and further reduces costs.
So we took this opportunity to quickly recommend our ESL product to this customer, who also expressed strong interest in our latest generation of 2.4GHz ESL products. We also sent the latest information, pictures, quotations, etc. to the customer's team in a timely manner. However, the customer still felt that our quotation was higher than their market perception price. After further research, we found that the acceptance of ESL product prices in the Slovak market was not as low as the customer said. In order to dispel the customer's concerns, we held a video conference with the customer again, sent our research report to the customer, and explained the cost components of ESL products in great detail to the customer. The use of ESL products will bring him investment returns in the future, and so on.
After four months of uninterrupted negotiations, the customer was ultimately convinced by our professionalism, service, and pricing. Without purchasing samples, they directly purchased a trial order for the first store's ESL project, totaling 4000pcs HA213W, as well as some Access Points and accessories. Currently, the store is running very smoothly, and negotiations with the customer are underway for the installation of all stores.

How Do Electronic Shelf Labels Work?
Electronic shelf labels (ESLs) are a cutting-edge technology that is revolutionizing the way retailers manage their pricing and inventory systems. These digital labels replace traditional paper price tags and provide a more efficient, accurate, and flexible solution for pricing and product information. But how exactly do electronic shelf labels work? In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of ESLs and explore the technology behind them.
1. The Basics of Electronic Shelf Labels
At their core, electronic shelf labels are display devices that are attached to store shelves and can be updated remotely to reflect changes in prices, promotions, or product information. They typically feature e-ink or e-paper displays, which provide a clear and legible screen for customers to view. The labels are battery-powered and equipped with wireless communication capabilities, allowing them to receive updates from a central management system.
2. Communication and Connectivity
One of the key components of electronic shelf labels is their ability to communicate with a central server or management system. This connectivity is usually achieved through a wireless network, such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, which enables the labels to receive updates in real-time. By leveraging wireless communication, retailers can instantly update prices, modify product information, or implement promotions across all ESLs in their store, eliminating the need for manual updates or label replacement.
3. Central Management System
Behind the scenes, electronic shelf labels are supported by a central management system that orchestrates the flow of information to and from the labels. This system allows retailers to input and store pricing data, inventory information, and product details, which can then be disseminated to the ESLs as needed. Additionally, the management system often provides tools for scheduling promotions, analyzing sales data, and monitoring the status of the labels, offering a comprehensive platform for managing pricing and inventory.
4. Power and Battery Management
Given that electronic shelf labels rely on battery power to operate, efficient power management is essential to their functionality. Most ESLs are designed to have long battery life, often lasting several years before needing replacement. Additionally, some labels are equipped with energy-saving features, such as motion sensors or low-power display modes, to extend battery life further. By implementing smart power management strategies, retailers can minimize the maintenance and operational costs associated with ESLs.
5. Integration with Point-of-Sale Systems
In order to maintain consistency and accuracy, electronic shelf labels are often integrated with a retailer's point-of-sale (POS) system. This integration ensures that the prices displayed on the ESLs align with the prices at the checkout, reducing the risk of discrepancies and customer dissatisfaction. Furthermore, by integrating with the POS system, retailers can streamline the process of updating prices and managing inventory, creating a seamless and efficient retail environment.
In conclusion, electronic shelf labels offer a modern, efficient, and dynamic solution for retailers to manage pricing and product information. By leveraging wireless communication, central management systems, and integration with POS systems, ESLs provide a versatile platform for retailers to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market. As technology continues to advance, electronic shelf labels are poised to become an integral part of the retail landscape, enabling retailers to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing industry.
In conclusion, electronic shelf labels are a cutting-edge and efficient technology that revolutionizes the retail industry. From their ability to display real-time pricing and product information to their seamless integration with inventory management systems, electronic shelf labels are a game-changer for both retailers and customers. This technology not only streamlines the pricing and promotion process but also enhances the overall shopping experience by providing accurate and up-to-date information. What Is an Electronic Shelf Label?
In today's fast-paced retail environment, time is of the essence. With the rise of online shopping, brick-and-mortar stores are constantly seeking ways to improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience. One technology that has gained traction in recent years is electronic shelf labels (ESL). These modern digital labels offer a range of benefits for retailers and customers alike, revolutionizing the way products are priced and promoted.
How Electronic Shelf Labels Work
Electronic shelf labels are high-tech replacement for traditional paper price tags. They are typically made in the form of a small electronic display that is attached to the edge of a store shelf. These labels are connected to a central system through wireless communication, allowing retailers to update and manage pricing information in real time. When a price is changed in the central system, the corresponding electronic shelf label is automatically updated to reflect the new price.
The Benefits of Electronic Shelf Labels
1. Increased Efficiency
One of the main benefits of electronic shelf labels is the significant increase in efficiency. Traditional paper price tags require employees to manually change prices, a time-consuming and error-prone process. With electronic shelf labels, prices can be updated in a matter of seconds, reducing the time and labor required to manage pricing changes.
2. Dynamic Pricing
Electronic shelf labels enable retailers to implement dynamic pricing strategies, where prices can be adjusted based on factors such as demand, inventory levels, or competition. This allows retailers to optimize pricing for maximum profit without the need for constant manual updates.
3. Improved Accuracy
With traditional paper price tags, errors and inconsistencies are common, leading to customer frustration and potential loss of sales. Electronic shelf labels ensure pricing accuracy, as there is no risk of human error in updating prices. This not only improves customer satisfaction but also streamlines the checkout process.
4. Enhanced Customer Experience
Electronic shelf labels can also be used to display additional product information, such as nutritional facts, product reviews, or promotions. This provides customers with valuable information at the point of purchase, enhancing their overall shopping experience.
5. Environmental Sustainability
By replacing traditional paper price tags with electronic shelf labels, retailers can significantly reduce their paper consumption, contributing to environmental sustainability.
The Future of Electronic Shelf Labels
As technology continues to advance, the capabilities of electronic shelf labels are expanding. Additionally, as the retail industry becomes increasingly competitive, the demand for efficient and cost-effective solutions is on the rise. This has led to the development of new features for electronic shelf labels, such as integrated NFC technology for instant customer interaction and engagement.
In conclusion, electronic shelf labels offer a range of benefits for retailers, including increased efficiency, dynamic pricing capabilities, improved accuracy, enhanced customer experience, and environmental sustainability. As the retail industry continues to evolve, electronic shelf labels are poised to become an essential tool for brick-and-mortar stores looking to stay ahead in a rapidly changing marketplace.
In conclusion, electronic shelf labels are a revolutionary tool that is changing the retail industry. They provide convenience and efficiency for both retailers and customers, allowing for accurate pricing and real-time updates. With the ability to streamline pricing changes and eliminate manual labor, electronic shelf labels are an innovative solution for modern retail businesses. As technology continues to advance, it is clear that electronic shelf labels are here to stay, ultimately enhancing the overall shopping experience for everyone involved.
